Capturing the Magic of “She Loves You”
The Beatles took a monumental step toward global domination in the recording studio at EMI Studios (Abbey Road), Studio Two. Between approximately 5pm and 10pm, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr laid down both sides of what would become their fourth UK single: the era-defining “She Loves You“ and its B-side “I’ll Get You“.
Produced by George Martin and engineered by Norman Smith, these tracks captured the band at a creative peak.
Written just days earlier, “She Loves You“ featured the iconic “yeah yeah yeah” hook that would soon echo around the world, helping ignite Beatlemania. The session used two-track recording, with early takes even experimenting with a fuzz-tone on George’s guitar.
Monday 1st July, 1963, marked a key transition from their earlier Merseybeat sound toward the more polished, explosive pop that defined their 1963 breakthrough.
